We were settled in at Jojoba Hills when the year 2001 began. I finished the first draft of my novel in January. Then in February I watched my life change as I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Resort. I took delivery on the Starband system (high speed satellite Internet). We failed to make Quartzsite but did take a bus trip to Laughlin for our wedding anniversary. There was a short trip to San Diego for a writer's conference. March was a busy Board month. I became a certified installer for Starband and put up a new system. We tried to prepare for our upcoming trip.
Finally, on the 26th of March we headed to the east. Our hopes to use Starband along the way were dashed when we found we could not get a signal as we went east. Then my laptop died. It was not a good beginning.
In April we went through Deming on our way to New Orleans. We stopped in Livingston at the Escapees Rainbow's End on the way. Then it was on to New Orleans for our barge cruise. We had a delightful time and took lots of pictures. From there we toured up the Mississippi Valley to Memphis.
In the May log you can read about our travels along the Mississippi. We visited Reelfoot Lake and Kentucky Dam. Then we went on up to St. Louis. Our June log covers our trip back to the west coast and Jojoba Hills.
The July log tells mostly about life in the summer in the high desert of southern California. Not much traveling, but it surely became busy. Then things started breaking at the Resort. It got even busier. The August log and September log are more of the same.
In the October log and November log and December log there is more.
